The Organic Textiles community supports organizations implementing trusted digital information for organic textile products and certified processing. It is aligned with the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), a leading textile processing standard for organic fibres that covers environmental, social, human-rights, traceability, and certification requirements across textile supply chains.
Global Standard gGmbH develops and promotes GOTS through a worldwide certification system. GOTS Version 8.0 is positioned as the current standard, and the programme reports thousands of certified facilities globally, making it a practical reference point for organic textile claims, facility-level certification, and chain-of-custody evidence.
Within the UN Textiles Protocol context, this community can help organic textile participants translate certification and processing requirements into interoperable digital product information. Priority areas include organic fibre identity, certified processing stages, facility and certificate identifiers, product labelling claims, transaction evidence, and reusable conformity credentials for brands, manufacturers, retailers, and regulators.
Pilot Implementations
-
Organic Fibre Product Passport Pilot (2026):
Trial product passport records for organic cotton and other organic fibre products, focusing on material composition, certified processing stages, fibre provenance, and claim provenance.
-
Certificate and Facility Evidence Pilot (2026):
Test reusable digital records that connect GOTS scope certificates, transaction certificates, certified facilities, and product batches in a way that can be checked by downstream partners.
-
Organic Labelling Claim Exchange Pilot (2027):
Explore how organic content and processing claims can be exchanged between certification bodies, manufacturers, brands, retailers, and marketplaces without duplicating evidence requests.
