The Safe Textiles community supports organizations implementing trusted digital information for textile safety and responsible production. It is aligned with OEKO-TEX, whose certification and testing systems help companies assess textile and leather products, production facilities, and chemical inputs against requirements for harmful substances, environmental performance, social responsibility, and product traceability.
OEKO-TEX provides several relevant standards and tools for textile value chains, including STANDARD 100 for harmful-substance tested textile products, MADE IN GREEN for traceable products made in environmentally friendly facilities under socially responsible working conditions, STeP for sustainable textile and leather production, ECO PASSPORT for chemical products, and consumer-facing verification through Label Check.
Within the UN Textiles Protocol context, this community can help safety and certification data become reusable digital evidence. Priority areas include product and facility identifiers, lab test evidence, certificate identifiers, chemical input declarations, responsible production claims, consumer verification links, and interoperable safety information for brands, manufacturers, retailers, marketplaces, and regulators.
